Welcome to the Mississippi Institute on Disabilities!

At the Mississippi Institute on Disabilities (MIOD), we are dedicated to making a lasting impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities, from early childhood through aging adulthood. Our mission is simple, yet profound: to serve individuals with disabilities across the lifespan, to provide world-class training for the next generation of professionals, and to advance cutting-edge research that enhances outcomes in education, mental health, and community engagement, and beyond.

Every day, we work to ensure that individuals with disabilities have access to the support, opportunities, resources, and care they need to thrive. Whether through innovative educational programs, behavioral health services, assistive technology supports, or fostering deeper community support, we are committed to breaking down barriers and creating a more accommodating environment for all.

Our work extends beyond service delivery. We also prepare pre-professionals—future school psychologists, behavior analysts, teachers, clinicians, and advocates—through world-class training that equips them with the skills, knowledge, and compassion to meet the needs of this diverse population. The research we conduct not only expands the body of knowledge but directly informs practices that improve the lives of individuals with disabilities in real, measurable ways.

Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. We partner with families, educators, researchers, and policymakers to create sustainable change. Together, we are working toward a world that values the full potential of every individual, regardless of ability.

I invite you to explore our website and learn more about our programs, initiatives, and opportunities to get involved. Whether you are a parent, researcher, a professional in the field, or someone interested in supporting our mission, there is a place for you at the Mississippi Institute on Disabilities.

Thank you for your interest in our work. Together, we can continue to drive positive change and build a brighter future for all.
